Gave a six-cottage lakeside hideaway on the NSW South Coast a booking-ready site as tranquil as the location itself.

Challenge

This isn't a hotel with rooms to fill, it's a nostalgic, secluded escape, and the website had to sell that feeling before it sold a single night's stay. Get the tone wrong and it reads like any other accommodation listing. Get it right and people can already picture themselves on the verandah watching for possums.

Plan of Attack

We built the site around the atmosphere first: nature, heritage, quiet. Every cottage got room to tell its own story, with the practical stuff, availability, enquiries, directions, sitting quietly underneath rather than dominating the page.

Selling the Escape

Photography and copy do the heavy lifting here, giving each cottage its own space to be discovered rather than squeezing six listings onto one crowded page. The goal was simple: get someone daydreaming about unplugging by the lake before they've even checked availability.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
OUR SOLUTIONS

Give six distinct 1950s cottages plus a separate mudbrick retreat their own identity

We gave each cottage and the mudbrick retreat their own space on the site, so a returning guest can find "their" cottage and a first-time visitor can see exactly what sets each one apart.

Keep direct enquiries simple for a small, owner-run business

We built a straightforward enquiry pathway suited to how a small property actually operates, without forcing the owners into a booking system built for a hotel chain.

Work well for guests planning a getaway from their phone

We built the site fully responsive, so browsing cottages and getting in touch works just as well from a phone on the couch as it does from a desktop.

I searched for someone who was a computer geek because I needed them to have that knowledge but I also wanted someone who possessed good communication skills so that we had useful dialogue on direction which is hard to find when building a website. Chris worked with a small team of hugely creative people and the results were amazing.
